Viral TikTok paves the way for future teacher reforms following the COVID-19 pandemic

In a viral TikTok video with over 700,000 views, Samantha Laney, a teacher at Holmes Innovation School in Boston, shed light on the fact that Boston Public Schools teachers have worked without a contract since Fall 2021.

Teacher turnover rates rose across the country since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, but it has hit Boston Public Schools particularly hard.

Experts hold webinar to discuss nuclear weapons’ effect on state

Fighting food insecurity in Massachusetts public schools

Household food insecurity in Massachusetts rose to 19.6% during the COVID-19 pandemic from an earlier 8.2%, according to Project Bread, a nonprofit organization that works to make food more accessible.

To help combat these statistics, No Kid Hungry, a national organization fighting child hunger, awarded the Massachusetts-based organization a $200,000 grant. Project Bread divided up and distributed the grant to school districts throughout the state.

BU Edge takes the stage Saturday

After almost two years, Boston University’s leading contemporary dance group, BU Edge Dance Company, is taking the stage Saturday at the Tsai Performance Center at 7 p.m. The show, Breaking Bounds, will showcase 10 pieces ranging from jazz to lyrical.
